There are plenty of different things that people do in an attempt to get rid of acne. Some of these are pharmaceutical products but they tend to carry some side effects that most of us do not want to have to deal with.

It is always a better idea to try and cure something naturally so that you don’t mess anything else up in the process. To be certain, there are several different herbs that can be taken which will help to clear up your skin if not get rid of your acne altogether.

These herbs have been used for many years for a variety of different reasons. As a matter of fact, some of them have been used in Asia for well over 5000 years, both to help clear up skin and to take care of other health issues.

If you are having a problem with acne or with problem skin, here are three different herbs that you can take which will help to get your body back into balance and to clear up your skin naturally.

Basil – The Herb has been used for a variety of different reasons but most importantly, it kills bacteria which may be at the root of your acne problems. Not only that, it helps to clean the blood that may carry this bacteria and keep it within your body.

Basil tea has been taken for many years in order to solve problems like this. Even the soil where the basil grows become so pure that it is renowned for its healing mud baths.

Sandalwood – This herb comes from the bark of the Sandalwood tree and many people consider it to be great aromatherapy. By spreading this substance onto your skin, you are going to help to heal it and to give it a healthy glow that will last for quite some time.

Lavender – Along with being a great smelling herb, it also helps to reduce inflammation and has some antiseptic properties which can go a long way in helping you with your acne. If you love the smell of lavender, you should try using this on your problem skin as well.

Tea Tree Oil – This is probably one of the better-known herbs that works for acne and it does an excellent job because of its antibacterial properties along with the fact that it is antiseptic in nature. Make sure you dilute this oil before applying it directly to your skin.

Acne is not confined to teenagers and puberty, it also prevalent in adults and in women mostly during pregnancy. Acne is often characterized by pimples and breakouts all over the skin in large numbers, frequently seen on the face and the back. It is caused due to the over activity of the sebaceous glands or the oil producing glands. When it combines with dead skin cells, hormones and bacteria, the oily substances are trapped inside the pores and causes swelling. The lumps often have a crown of a white head or a black head or even red lumps, which are very tender. Acne, if not treated on time, can even lead to scarring. Some acne go so deep inside the skin that they form into nodules and cysts, which leaves scars which may not disappear even after healing. Acne can be caused due to stress, fatigue, and cosmetics and even due to humidity, although nothing has been proved till date. Do’s and Don’ts on the acne prone skin :

Professional treatment is the best for acne, the earlier the treatment provided, the better. A good doctor will be in a position to treat acne-using medications by controlling the over-active sebaceous glands, hormonal imbalance, or even stress.

It is good not to squeeze or break the pimples and acne, as it will lead to spread the infection and can make the area swell and might even lead to permanent scarring.

Usage of oily cosmetics are also not recommended, as the acne prone skin already is oily enough, usage of such cosmetics will add up to it. Instead of using oily cosmetics, it is better to go for water based ones, which might be less harsh. It is always good to remove make up at night, if left on the whole night might cause irritation to the skin.

The acne prone skin should be pampered with gentle wash and pat dry. Vigorous scrubbing needs to be avoided as it only worsens the condition and may even block the pores.

Regular shampooing is recommended as it may reduce the pimple appearing on the forehead, it is good to avoid hair products like gels and pomades, as they are oily.

Cosmetics which are non comedogenic should be used. Acnes sometimes can make the skin hypersensitive, hence sunscreens can be used to avoid sunburns. It is good to avoid tanning, as it cannot make the skin clearer.

Over-the-counter products containing salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide can curb mild acne.

Acne is a skin condition that simply refuses to go away. It’s a nagging skin ailment that we commonly call pimples, blackheads, whiteheads, red or yellow spots, cystic nodules or scars. The acne prone age is between 12 and 25 years. But beware; it’s not just a teen trouble. Even in your 30s and 40s you may get acne attacks. Acne can cause lifelong scars, if left untreated. Hence, it is vital to be proactive about acne treatment, beginning right from home remedies. Acne treatment essentially involves the use of both preventive and curative products.

Preventive products

The natural way to keep off acne begins at home. If you wish to keep off acne, follow this home treatment attentively and be sure of great results.

- Keep your face spotless clean, by washing it often with a gentle anti-bacterial cleanser or some home-made natural product
- Never use greasy, oil-based moisturizers
- Never use products containing synthetic chemicals and vegetable oils
- Keep your hair off your face
- Never dig or touch scars
- Keep skin pores unclogged with products containing sulfur plus resorcinol

However, pregnant women, kids and patients under some other medication, should consult a doc before they use such products.

Medication methods

The condition of your acne will determine the treatment options. Treatment also depends on the oil balance of your skin, your gender and your existing medications. The most proactive acne treatment is with topical products (gels, creams) containing Salicylic acid, Benzoyl peroxide, sulfur, tetracycline, erythromycin or a retinoid. Many times a combination of these products also works well.

Physicians also prescribe oral medications like antibiotics, hormones, and isotretinoins. Go for such acne treatment only after knowing the side effects.

Laser treatment

Laser treatment has completely cured many. Here the laser destroys the excess oil producing glands and removes scars. It is painless, harmless but costly. However, to get rid of the existing acne you need medication.

Cystic treatment

Acute cystic acne needs cystic treatments with Accutane or isotretinoin. But, there are side effects. Since most other treatments are not effective on cystic acne, these severe products are unavoidable.

Chinese treatments

The Chinese method is a natural herbal acne treatment. They believe in getting to the root of the problem like liver ailments, emotional upsets, wind heat, damp heat, blood heat etc. “They even trace acne to reasons like a stagnant qi (energy). Their natural products do help many,” says dermatologist Dr Manela Humphrey.

Peel power

TCA Peels are an easy, safe and affordable acne treatment. “They are also more effective than other clinic or spa-based treatments,” says salon specialist Mary Roberts. Peels were earlier available only through costly treatments by skin specialists, at US$ 500- 1000 per session. These same peels are now easily available at less than US$30 from on the internet (for more information see the link below). No prescription is required either.

There are thousands of skin treatment websites out there that have the “perfect” skin care products to control your skin condition. But is that really what you’re seeking? A product that can control the problems you have with your skin or a skin care solution that will rid you completely of the problem at hand. I would opt for a total solution over a temporary fix any day! And I’m sure you would too.

The skin care industry is a billion dollar business. There are skin products for this and skin products for that. Some skin care products are worthless, let’s just be frank. And there are others that provide minimal results, while some really work to provide a visual change. But even the best skin care products are still a temporary fix. One must continue to purchase skin care products every month to maintain the results. This results in alot of money being spent, thus creating a continual financial obligation to maintain healthy, clear skin.

So now in order to achieve the results of clear skin, one must continually purchase over-the-counter products. Is the problem fixed? No. It’s simply treated with a temporary fix. Has the root cause been addressed? No. I say this because skin conditions are a result of an internal problem. I will say it again. Skin problems are an internal problem. No external remedy can permanently solve an internal problem.

So how does one solve an internal problem? With an internal solution. Many might call it “homemade skin care”, “natural skin care”, or skin care by way of “alternative medicine”. This is the answer for an internal condition, yet most people are convinced that an external product will fix anything. But it won’t. In fact, it can’t.

Homemade skin care is the best decision you’ll ever make for the skin condition that you’re dealing with. Why? Because going the route of addressing your skin problems through a homemade skin care remedy will deal with the root cause. It will deal with the root issues that are causing the skin to breakout. Some of these causes are:

Once these internal issues are brought back to normal function, it’s amazing how quickly the skin reflects the changes. Blemishes begin to clear up. Rashes fade and the itching stops. Pimples, blackheads, whiteheads, and even scarring fade away. How? Through alternative medicine–specifically natural herbs.

The right homemade skin care recipe will clear up ANY skin condition. This includes: acne, cystic acne, eczema, psoriasis, various forms of dermatitis & more. Remember, the key is addressing the root issue, which are internal problems you have going on. You cannot fix an internal condition with an external patch. So get educated and informed about Homemade skin care. It beats every over-the-counter product hands down! It’s the answer you’ve been waiting for–the answer for clear skin.

1) Acne:

Acne is one of the most common skin disorders in the world. It generally occurs when dead skin cells and oil block the pores of the skin. In its common form, “acne vulgaris” (or pimples), this clogging results in the appearance of red and swollen blemishes in the skin. These inflammations occur mainly on the face, chest, back, shoulders and upper arms. There are other forms of acne that aren’t that mild. These can appear as – blackheads, whiteheads, pustules, papules or cysts.

Blackheads- These are caused by the hardening of oils in the skin pores due to the excess oil produced by sebaceous glands (the skin’s oil producing glands). The tip of the clogged pores, that is exposed to the air, turns black (due to oxidation) resulting in the formation of blackheads.

Whiteheads- Whiteheads are white raised spots that show up around the cheekbone, nose, or where the skin is fine. The formation of whiteheads is very similar to that of blackheads except that these occur where skin is delicate and the clogged grease does not get exposed to air. Therefore, there is no darkening of the tips (due to oxidation).

Pustules, Papules- Pustules are small pus-filled inflammations on the skin surface. These commonly occur on face, shoulder and the back. Papules are deeper inflammatory lesions that are raised and solid. In comparison to pustules, they take longer to heal and are known to result in scarring.

Cysts- Cysts are thicker, yellow pus-like inflammations. Quite often, papular or nodular acne results in the formation of a cyst. These inflammations may occur one at a time, or they maybe more than one over the common acne areas – face, neck, back, chest and shoulders.

There are treatments available for each form of acne. But, since the severity of the condition varies by individual, you are advised to consult a dermatologist to determine the best course of action.

The remaining 4 skin disorders Eczema, Psoriasis, Rosacea and Skin Cancer will be discussed in a separate article.

There are several ways to treat back acne as well as prevent it from appearing.

1 – Wash your body with acne body wash instead of regular soap. Acne body wash can help to remove bacteria dirt that is accumulated on the back. A good acne body wash can also help to prevent acne from coming back.

2 – Pat your back dry after shower. It is advised not to aggravate the affected area with rubbing.

3 – It is best to wear cotton clothes whenever you can. Also you can try to put on some powder on your back to keep the area dry.

4 – Wipe off any perspiration on your body as soon as you can. This is especially so after exercise.

5 – Apply Benzoyl Peroxide or AHA on your back. There are topical solutions that can be used for treating back acne. You can also try acne body wash that contains these ingredients.

6 – Exfoliate your back with sea salts or a mild scrub. You can do this a few times a week to keep the skin free from accumulation of dirt and dead skin cells. However, do not exfoliate your back if you are having cystic acne.

If you have very severe back acne, you may consider getting treatment from a dermatologist. However, before you do that, it is best to try out natural treatments and acne treatment products first as they are more cost effective and safer.

Although acne has been largely associated with teeners and puberty, the condition is not only confined in this age level. In fact, there are cases when as teeners, people do not suffer from acne only to have acne appear when they are in their 20s.
Acne is characterized by big break outs and pimples in large quantities. It can develop in different areas of the body although frequently found on the face and at the back. Acne often starts from the overactivity of the pilo-sebaceous glands, oil-producing glands. When combined with bacteria, dead skin cells and hormones, these oils are trapped in pores and induces swelling.
Often, lumps will develop into white heads or blackheads or even purely red lumps that are tender. Acne can also lead to scarring when not treated early. Some acne extend so deep within the skin and form nodules and cysts that even when heals, will leave scars that may not disappear.
Although nothing has been proven yet, acne has been known to be exacerbated by emotional stress, fatigue, humidity and even cosmetics. This is the reason why the use of chemicals on the face is strictly forbidden when there is acne as the products only irritate the skin.
There are actually medicines that can be applied to treat acne but before putting them on your face, you need to first consult a doctor to find out the regimen that will fit your condition and your skin type.
Here are some tips on how to take care of acne prone skin.
1. Let it be treated by professionals
The earlier you have it medically treated, the better will be the prognosis. There are medications that can help control the processes that lead to the acne problem such as the over-activity of the sebaceous glands, hormonal imbalances and even stress.
2. Do not take it in your own hands
Do not squeeze your pimples. This will only spread the infection and cause the affected area to swell. Squeezing your pimples may also result in permanent scarring. So be very careful in tweaking those red bumps on your face.
3. Avoid oily cosmetics
Remember that acne-prone skin is oily enough as it is. If you use oily cosmetics, it will only add up to the oil build up. If you have to wear make-up, look for the ones that are water-based. This will be less harsh on the skin. Also, remember to always remove your make-up at night. This is very crucial as leaving make-up on your skin while asleep can further irritate the skin.

Cystic acne is a bacterial infection that usually occurs on the face and back. Cystic acne will cause swollen red pustules to be formed on the skin surfaces. Cystic acne is also termed as modular acne and can be the most painful of all the various types of skin care conditions. Cystic acne requires a timely action once the symptom is seen. The specific cause is not identified by any medical expertise till now. Although most dermatologist agreed one of the main causes if due to the hormonal changes especially for teenagers. Cystic acne clogs the pores by the accumulation of dirt and oil. This accumulation helps in thriving bacteria. The worst thing in cystic acne is that it has the tendency to spread from one place to another by means of scratching or squeezing the swollen pustules. Cystic acne is common for both males and females. But female are most likely to be affected by this as they tend to use more make ups. Advisory measures to prevent cystic acne “Swift action is needed before it reaches you” is a commonly said term in many fields which hold good in cystic acne. The best way to deal with cystic acne is a consultation of a dermatologist. The treatment for cystic acne varies from one individual to other individual as it depends on the age, stages of development and the hormonal imbalance. There are also several home remedies for cystic acne that you can try at home. The best way to prevent cystic acne is done in three steps, one followed by the other. The first step of treatment starts with a cleansing regimen which is specially recommended for cystic acne skin. This cleansing regimen helps in keeping the fresh and healthy at all times. This cleansing regimen should be used twice a day both morning and evening. Keeping the skin clean is the best possible to get rid of cystic acne. The second level of treatment moves on to an exfoliating cream. This exfoliating cream is used on the affected areas. This cream removes the excess of dirt and oil that is deposited on the skin. And also it prevents the excess of oil production by the sebaceous oil gland. The third phase of treatment is that a light moisturizer cream is used. Light moisturizer helps in oxidation the skin. Oxidation helps in destroying the bacteria that causes infection. Cystic acne can be treated with the help of an antibiotic or a laser treatment. Laser treatment removes the dead cells and it tightens the larger pores for the future. But using a laser treatment is more expensive and painful too. So the best remedy is to keep your skin always clean, fresh and healthy.

There have been many moves to treat acne, a distressing dermatological condition. What’s hard about acne is that not one single solution can treat all types of acne. However, if there are different solutions to choose from, all acne problems of varying types now have an answer.

Clinique Acne solutions have done just that. Their skin care products have evolved greatly, making sure to answer every skin woe. One of the concerns that many people bring up about acne is how to cover it up. Most commercial brands offer concealers and foundations that cover up the unsightly marks, but leave your pores clogged. These types of cosmetics are called comedogenic and are more often than not oil-based. Oil-based cosmetics and acne does not work well together.

Fortunately, Clinique Acne solutions have formulated innovative acne products such as the concealing cream that covers your pimples and helps eradicate them in the process. These types of concealer and foundation have been specially formulated for acne prone skin. Other than cosmetics, Clinique Acne solutions have come up with a wide variety of products to help control acne. One of these products is the healing gel. The healing gel works as an anti-inflammatory agent. It is cool and specially formulated to help constrict the blood vessels causing the pimple to redden and swell.

There is also a great product that Clinique has introduced to its consumers. The Clinique Acne Solutions Clear Skin System offers its consumers a head way to a clearer skin. Acne affected skin need not worry of its condition with this product. What’s great about it is that it comes in a starter kit convenient to the buyers. This starter kit is good for 4 weeks use. With the starter kit, you can test for yourself if you have any untoward reactions to the product or if the product does not work for you. But this hardly happens as Clinique Acne treatments are designed to be hypoallergenic and work effectively on clearing acne infested skin.

The starter kit contains three perfect solutions to answer your acne concerns. The first solution is a cleansing foam. This first step helps your skin and pores to be washed of all the dirt and oil it has accumulated over the day. The second solution is an exfoliant that comes in a lotion form. Exfoliation is an essential step to help clear dead skin and allow new skin to breathe. The last solution is a moisturizer, necessary to keep your skin’s essential oils and to prevent from drying. Clinique Acne Products are available at reasonable prices and are oil-free. You don’t only get good clear skin; you also get to save as well with Clinique’s innovative acne products.

Acne will affect nearly 80 percent of us during some period of our lives. The effects of these breakouts may go far beyond a few occasional pimples, all the way to leaving permanent scars and blemishes. These skin texture changes will deprive the skin of its look of health and vitality. So even if you are not currently struggling with the effects of acne breakouts on your skin, you probably know people who are. There is even reason to believe that skin ages more rapidly as it fights the effects of acne.

Do you get acne from eating chocolates? Can it be caused by the weather? What about stress? If you only have a breakout now and then, do you really have acne? Well here is the truth about breakouts and acne. No, chocolate does not cause pimples, but stress can aggravate your skin. By starting the release of androgens hormones that produce sticky oil in hair follicles stress can be the beginning of a breakout weeks before it surfaces. As to the weather, breakouts are more likely to occur on hot and humid days because your skin can be aggravated by heat and friction. Yes, even one pimple is to be considered acne.

Teens are not the only ones to experience these effects. In fact a great number of adults are experiencing the same effects. Dermatologists call this late-onset acne, and some of the causes may be attributed to environmental exposure, stress, oral contraceptives, menopause, cosmetic ingredients, and improper cleaning techniques.

It takes about two weeks for acne to reach the surface of the skin, so that’s why it’s normal to see flare-ups when you first start to treat acne. It’s important to be patient with a new acne treatment program, because it usually takes three to four weeks to see results.

A blemish begins when hair follicles become plugged by sebum, an oily substance made by your skin. In those who are prone to get acne, this oil gets trapped in the narrow follicle, causing cells to clump and form a plug. Then the bacteria, which thrive on the air-tight environment created by the plug, start feeding and breeding inside the pores. The body reacts by sending in white blood cells to fight these invaders. The result is inflammation, small pinkish bumps, pimples, sometimes nodules and cysts. The inflammation is what causes scarring, discoloration, and dark spots. When do you get over acne? I don’t know, but most people see it improve as they become older.

Then there are those people who don’t even get acne until they are in their twenties, thirties, or even forties. The bad news is that some of the effects of acne can last a lifetime. The good new is breakouts and the signs of past breakouts can be treated with the help of modern science so everyone can enjoy clear, healthy skin.

You are well into your 30’s and you are expecting crow’s feet, but acne, how does that happen? Just because you are not a teen anymore does not mean you should ignore acne, even occasional breakouts. It also doesn’t mean you should treat your face to an industrial strength scouring powder.

Usually male acne tends to calm down after the teen years, but in some cases men continue to have breakouts. The reasons can be stress related, as well as hormonal (male androgens notoriously trigger acne). The stress is generally career related, which is very common these days in our highly competitive job market. Another factor for men can be the manner in which they shave, or possibly the equipment they use to shave. Some men do well with electric razors, while others should possibly use a straight razor, and only shave with a downward motion.

Women’s acne can also be triggered by stress, as well as their androgen levels. Women’s androgen levels remain quite stable throughout their lifetime, but their estrogen levels continuously fluctuate. Over time the balance slowly shifts in favor of the androgens. This means that those who had clear skin when they were teens now may be faced with acne for the first time in their lives.

These adult breakouts may be frequent, or they may be occasional, but they are often larger and more painful. They can also be harder to get under control because as we get older our cell production slows down, resulting in a buildup of oils and dead cells in the follicles or pores of aging skin.

You will want to keep your complexion healthy, vibrant, and clear now. The best way to do that with skin that is slightly more mature is to do it gently with products and ingredients that are more suited to your older skin.
