Among the most severe forms of acne that need to be treated by special medication are nodular acne and cystic acne. A popular prescribed medication used for treating these forms of acne is Accutane. This medication is usually applied after other treatments haven’t had any positive effect on the acne condition. Cystic acne is characterized by nodules that form under the skin. With time, these nodules become harden and finally turn into painful cysts. If you have tried different treatments and none of them have had the effects you’ve expected, you might be tempted to make use of Accutane as an ultimate treatment for your acne. However, you should be aware of the possible side effects that this drug can cause before making the decision to take this medication. There are cases in which Accutane has been found to be effective in treating severe types of acne such as cystic acne. Again, unfortunately, this medication can have serious side effects. Therefore, before taking this drug, you will usually be asked to read and sign a form covering these side effects. You can only use Accutane until you understand and agree with the possible negative effects that this medication could cause you. Among the worst possible side effects caused by Accutane is that it can cause serious birth defects. Experts recommend that women who are or plan on using Accutane take a pregnancy test every month. This test is simply to make sure the drug is stopped should they become pregnant. In fact, physicians don’t recommend taking Accutane for women who plan to become pregnant. On the other hand, experts also suggest that it is safe for women to get pregnant only after having stopped taking the drug for at least a month. This will prevent women from going through a possible miscarry during pregnancy, premature birth, or stillbirth. So it is really important to consult a physician to learn about all the possible side effects in women caused by Accutane. Another negative side effect that Accutane can cause in acne sufferers is the development of serious mental problems. In fact, many patients with these mental problems can even result in suicide! Some of the most common symptoms associated with these mental problems include: feeling angry, empty, sad or anxious, irritated, loss in social activities, sleeping too little or too much, changes in weight or appetite and thoughts of suicide. Accutane is a very powerful drug and these are only a few of the possible side effects this drug has been reported to cause. So, it is very recommended to consult your doctor immediately if you experience any of the above-mentioned symptoms or any other feeling associated with depression. Some of the other different adverse physical effects linked to Accutane include the following: muscle aches, lip inflammation, itching, inflammation of the mucous membrane on the eyes, and dry mouth, nose, or skin. Also, patients taking this drug are subject to experiment more serious side effects such as abnormal liver enzymes and decreased levels of blood cholesterol, lipid, and triglyceride. Because the negative side effects Accutane can produce are so extensive, most patients are generally monitored by a physician. As soon as the physician finds out that the drug is causing any of the mentioned side effects, patients are then recommended to stop its usage. The good news is that for most patients, these side effects usually disappear not long after stopping taking Accutane. As one of the most preferred acne treatments, Accutane can be a very effective prescribed medication used against serious forms of acne. If you’ve tried many treatments and you have not had any positive results, then Accutane could be your ultimate solution. However, as you might know by now, the most recommended advice is to consult a professional physician who can help you decide whether or not you should try this acne medication.

Acne is a skin disorder. Acne lesions arise through pilosebaceous units, which are made of sebaceous glands and hair follicles in the middle layer of skin called the dermis. Found over most of the body, PSUs consist of a sebaceous gland connected to a canal, called a follicle, that contains a fine hair. The sebaceous glands make an oily substance called sebum that normally empties onto the skin surface through the opening of the follicle, commonly called a pore. Cells called keratinocytes line the follicle. The primary cause of acne is obstruction of pilosebaceous canal, which can take place due to various reasons.

The opening of the blackhead displayed in dark not because of the accumulation of dirt, but due to the accumulation of melanin pigments. Papules are red buttons or injury. Pustules are like papules, but its center is filled with pus. Nodules are deep acne which can take up to 8 weeks to heal. The cysts are not a form of acne, but it is the most serious example of acne, which can reach up to several centimeters in diameter. Cystic Acne is regarded as a serious and immediate medical needs are attention. There some new forms of acne that develop due to a variety of reasons other than normal causing acne

The cause of acne is not fully understood. Though poor hygiene, poor diet, and stress can aggravate acne, they clearly do not cause it. Greasy food or poor hygiene, acne is caused by over-production of oil from the sebaceous glands. One important factor is an increase in hormones called androgens (male sex hormones). These increase in both boys and girls during puberty and cause the sebaceous glands to enlarge and make more sebum. Hormonal changes related to pregnancy or starting or stopping birth control pills can also cause acne. Another factor is heredity or genetics. The tendency to develop acne can be inherited from parents.

Certain medications, including lithium and androgens are known to cause acne. Some cosmetics may also provoke spots, especially those that contain oils, fatty acids and waxes. Greasy cosmetics can damage the follicle cells and make them stick together, the production of a plug. Acnes Propionibacteria are many acne on the skin, causing inflammation of the buttons. Bacteria also play a part. During puberty many types of bacteria are normally present on the surface of the skin. When certain bacteria come into contact with excess oil, they enter the ducts of the sebaceous glands where they produce chemicals, which can escape into deeper parts of the skin. In severe acne this can cause big tender spots called nodules.

There can be aggravating factors. Teenage girls often report a flare-up of spots just before menstruation. Stress and certain foods, such as fast food and chocolate, seem to make acne worse. Stress causes your oil glands to overcompensate. The most common things that can aggravate your acne are cleansing your skin too much, squeezing, picking, or popping zits. Excessive cleansing, particularly with the overzealous use of abrasive facial scrubs can irritate your skin, and worsen inflammation. Squeezing and picking acne spots may increase inflammation and can cause further disruption of the acne oil sac.

Acne, most commonly known as pimples, is the bane of almost every face and the worst nightmare for those too unfortunate to suffer.

It is the most common skin disease today. In United States alone, nearly 60 million people are infected with acne, where 85 per cent of teenagers suffer from it.

Acne is a disorder resulting from the action of hormones on the skin’s oil glands (sebaceous glands), which leads to plugged pores and outbreaks of lesions commonly called pimples or zits. Acne lesions usually occur on the face, neck, back, chest, and shoulders.

Contrary to the popular belief, acne is not just a teenager’s disease. It is a socially bane and can be upsetting and disfiguring in certain cases. It has a significant economic impact, as people spend a lot of money on non-prescription and prescription treatments and therapies.

Acne cases vary from mild to severely disfiguring. It ranges from comedones (blackheads and whiteheads) to nodules and cysts. Here are several acne terms that can help you better understand acne.

Comedo or Comedones are simply a plugged and enlarged hair follicle. When a comedo is open, it is usually called a blackhead. When it is closed or deep into the skin, it is usually called whitehead. The whitehead differs in color from the blackhead because the opening of the plugged sebaceous follicle to the skin’s surface is closed or very narrow, in contrast to the distended follicular opening of the blackhead. Neither blackheads nor whiteheads should be squeezed or picked open, unless extracted by a dermatologist under sterile conditions. Tissue injured by squeezing or picking can become infected by staphylococci, streptococci and other skin bacteria.

Papules are inflamed lesions that usually appear as small, pink bumps on the skin and can be tender to the touch. A group of very small papules and microcomedones may be almost invisible but have a “sandpaper” feel to the touch. A papule is caused by localized cellular reaction to the process of acne.

Pustules are papules topped by pus-filled lesions that may be red at the base. A pustule that forms over a sebaceous follicle usually has a hair in the center. Acne pustules that heal without progressing to cystic form usually leave no scars.

Nodules are solid, dome-shaped or irregularly-shaped lesions. They are commonly characterized by inflammation, extend into deeper layers of the skin and may cause tissue destruction that results in scarring. A nodule may be very painful. Nodular acne is a severe form of acne that may not respond to therapies other than isotretinoin.

Cysts can appear similar to nodules but are pus-filled, very painful and can cause scarring. They are usually described as having a diameter of 5 mm or more.

Although it cannot be known for sure, there’s good reason to believe that none of the millions of people who have suffered or are suffering from acne has refrained from picking open or squeezing their pimples. In fact it seems to be one of the most common actions among those people whose faces or bodies are covered with unpleasant-looking red spots. It is also one of the worst possible ideas. Pimples should never be squeezed or picked open by you. This is a job for a doctor and to be performed only if he deems it necessary. The main reason is that a pimple that has been squeezed or picked open is practically an invitation to every bacteria around to enter your body and cause an infection through the tiny opening in your skin. If you think the danger is negligible, you’re wrong.

At the very least your action is a sure way of causing future pimples to emerge in the same spot. Most likely, by tampering with your pimples in less than sterile conditions will result in permanent scarring, as the damaged skin closes around the gaping hole formerly known as a pimple. While I may seem to joke about it, let me assure you that this issue is very important. I know that it’s very hard to resist the temptation to squeeze your pimples in an attempt to eliminate at least the worst of them, but you should try as hard as you can to resists.

Believe me, you don’t want to spend the rest of your life with the scars of past acne flare-ups crisscrossing your face. This is why it’s very important to deal with acne in a decisive manner and prevent the emergence of pimples. The best way of taking care of your problem is to use an acne treatment that can really help your body put an end to basic cause of acne: widespread clogging of pores. The best acne solution around is the ClearPores Skin Cleansing System, the three-part system that takes care of acne both from the inside and the outside and prevents future flare-ups. Try it and you’ll be pleasantly surprised!

There’s a rather worn-out saying, which goes like this: you are what you eat. Not surprisingly, the cheap soundbite appearance serves as a mask for a deeper truth, since any skin care professional would tell you that diet is crucial for maintaining a healthy skin. Many skin conditions are caused by diets that actually starve the body instead of bringing in the much-needed vitamins and minerals.

Your skin cannot function properly without the daily supply of vitamins, among which the most important are Vitamin A, Vitamin B2, Vitamin B5, Vitamin B7, Vitamin C, Vitamin D and Vitamin E.

Vitamin A is one of the building blocks of the body’s immune system. It plays a key role in the formation of intact epithelial tissues, which are the first barrier to infections, and also in keeping white cells healthy to fight bacteria. An insufficient supply of Vitamin A can lead to xerosis, which means “dry skin”. The best sources of Vitamin A are milk, eggs, carrots and spinach.

Vitamin B2 is involved in the regulation of human growth, including the health of skin, hair and nails. It can be found in milk, cheese, leafy vegetables and almonds. According to studies conducted by Doctor Hung Leung, deficiency of Vitamin B5 can cause acne. Doctor Leung has actually managed to prove through his studies that regular doses of Vitamin B5 have a positive impact on acne, with milder cases being solved in matter of weeks. This vitamin is common in whole grain cereals, legumes, eggs and meat. Vitamin B7 is used by the cosmetics and health industries in many skin and hair care products. It is also recommended by doctors for strengthening hair and nails. Common sources of B7 are liver and kidney, dairy products and some seafood.

The well-known Vitamin C is not used solely for preventing the loss of teeth, but also to keep skin flexible and strong at the same time. The vitamin is required for the production of collagen in the connective tissues. Collagen is responsible for keeping the connective tissue flexible, yet strong. The best sources of Vitamin C are fruits and vegetables, with the Billygoat Plum (also known as Gubinge or Kakadu Plum) being the undisputed leader of Vitamin C sources (60 times more Vitamin C than oranges).

The body synthesizes large quantities of Vitamin D through exposure to sunlight, which makes this vitamin one of the easiest to get. However, the end of summer means an end to large-scale Vitamin D synthesis and the body has to rely on reserves to get through the autumn and winter. Lack of Vitamin D is one of the causes behind skin cancer. Other sources of Vitamin D are fatty fish (salmon, mackerel, sardines) fish and beef liver and eggs.

Vitamin E is used in many skin creams and lotions. It is believed to play a role in promoting skin healing and reducing scarring after certain injuries. It can be found in vegetable oils, nuts, wheat and leafy vegetables.

To get a personal look at this matter of difficult and long acne suffering, take a look this website called My Acne Solution. The site describes in detail the journey of one lady by the name of Elizabeth Stanton. She suffered with Acne for years, and tried all kinds of acne treatments and medicines. Some of the ones she used are also reviewed, but the emphasis is on the product Clearpores Acne System.

Acne is a chronic skin disease. It affects both adolescents and adults. The type of acne that many teenagers get is called acne vulgaris. It usually appears on the face, neck, shoulders, upper back and chest. Although acne is usually not a serious health threat, it can be an important source of emotional distress. The oil that lubricates the skin is normally trapped in oil pipelines blocked and results in what we know as buttons, black and white dots on the surface of the skin. Sometimes it also includes deep lesions of the skin which are called cysts. Acne lesions range in severity from comedones (black and white dots) to nodules and cysts.

Cysts associated with severe cases of acne (cystic acne) are firm swellings below the skin’s surface that become inflamed and sometimes infected. Nearly 17 million people in the United States have acne. Acne usually begins during puberty between the ages of 10 and 13 and he tends to be more severe in people with oily skin. Teenage acne is usually five to 10 years, it would normally in the early années’20. It occurs in both sexes, although adolescents tend to have the most severe cases. Women are more likely than men to have mild to moderate forms in their 30′s and beyond. While not a life threatening condition, acne can be upsetting and disfiguring.

As a severe form of nodular acne, acne, has the potential to cause long-term nodular acne scars usually occur deep under the skin and do not rise to the surface. Nodulaire, acne heals very slowly for the reason that the infection waste is not released, but buried deep in the skin. Nodular Acne, lasts only a few months before they fade, even if within that period, it is extremely embarrassing and painful. Most cases of acne can be treated successfully, including severe nodular acne. For severe nodular acne or cysts, a dermatologist will likely prescribe istretinoin (Accutane), which is an oral drug. Isotretinoin is a very effective medication.

People have often acne with a variety of injuries, some of which are shown in the diagrams below. The lesion of acne base, called the comedo. A comedo is a sebaceous follicle plugged with sebum. A comedo that compass the surface of the skin and opens up is called an open comedo or blackhead because it looks black on the skin’s surface. The development of acne takes 2-3 weeks before it appears on the skin surface. It starts as a stain in the sebaceous hair follicle. Deep in the hair follicle, the two processes are taking place continuously. When the pore is open and the plug pushes through the skin on the outer surface, it is called a blackhead.

There are many types of acne. Blackhead is a type of acne. It is caused by an excess of oil that have accumulated in the sebaceous glands ‘s jacket. Désengorgeant toxins that are expelled through the skin, blood and lymph sebum combines with the creation of a pasty glue. Another type of acne bone white. Whites also known as comedones closed follicles, which are filled with the same material, but have only a microscopic opening to the skin surface. Whites are the direct result of the skin with pores of oil and dead skin cells. White dots are the symptoms of acne vulgaris, and the pores are blocked with sebum.

Acne can play a devastating role on a person’s self-esteem. When women suffer acne as they age, its effects can be detrimental on their personal and professional lives. In some women, acne is caused by an excess of androgen (male) hormones. All women have some androgens. It is an excess that can cause a problem. Androgens are hormones that stimulate the sebaceous glands and hair follicles in the skin. During menstruation, women, both young and old, tend to have acne flare-ups. Stress can also affect the levels of androgens, resulting in further breakouts. A vicious circle, because the appearance of acne may increase a woman’s stress.

Acne is a common form of skin disease. It can vary in severity, appear as buttons, white or black points in its benign form, or as pustules and cysts in its more severe form. The form of nodular acne is characterized by blocked sebaceous glands that produce inflammation of the skin and tissues. In attempt to squeezing, you might end up with causing permanent scarring. The nodular acne, is also known as cystic acne. It is characterized by cysts and nodules on the skin deep. These cysts and nodules are actually blocking the sebaceous glands or oil-producing who broke open and produces inflammation and pus in the surrounding tissues of the skin.

These adult-acne outbreaks usually occur most often on the lower face, chin, jaw line and adult women. Some signs of hormonal acne, irregular menstrual cycles, acne premenstrual flares, excessive growth of hair on the face or body (hirsutism), and elevated blood levels of certain androgens. Cause hormonally influenced acne is generally limited to moderate inflammatory papules and small inflammatory nodules. Hormones are also responsible for acne in a percentage of pregnant women, as well; the sebaceous glands go into high gear during the third trimester, causing oily skin and frequent breakouts.

Some women even experience acne after menopause, when estrogen levels begin to taper off and testosterone becomes the dominant hormone. Several drugs to treat women with this type of acne. Low-dose estrogen birth control pills help suppress the androgen produced by the ovaries. Low-dose corticosteroid drugs, such as prednisone or dexamethasone, may suppress the androgen produced by the adrenal glands. An antiandrogen drug, such as spironolactone (Aldactone). This medicine reduces excessive oil production. Birth control pills to help suppress the androgen produced by the ovaries

Patients must generally take oral antibiotics for as long as 4 to 6 months to effectively treat acne. Sodium Sulfacetamide is very effective antibiotic to treat acne inflammation of the skin. These drugs are also useful to open the pores in the fight against bacteria. The last treatment that can be applied to mild inflammatory acne is acne surgery. This form of treatment is rarely sought by the acne-inflicted people with mild cases. But surgery can make great improvements in the appearance of the skin and can then put the patient to the success of the surgery that can be caused by scars.
