At puberty, male hormones stimulate growth of skin cells and increased production of sebum by sebaceous glands. The gland duct may become blocked by skin cells to form a whitehead, or by a plug of sebum that darkens on exposure to air, forming a blackhead, when sebum continues to be produced in a gland with a blocked duct, it may be forced out into surrounding tissue. Bacteria that are normally present in the skin (and harmless in other circumstances) cause the sebum to break down into chemicals that cause inflammation, resulting in the tender red lump we call a pimple. The pus formed by the inflammation usually pushes towards the surface from a ‘head’ that breaks through the blockage of the duct, and the pimple drains and disappears, leaving no scar.

Acne cysts are also genetically influenced, if the parents have acne, then there kids are also more prone of developing acne.

The use of generally cosmetics and various drugs like lithium may also lead to occurrence of acne cysts.

Due to rubbing the skin, friction is caused and various environmental factors such as pollution and high level of humidity also leads to formation of acne.

Eating chocolate and greasy foods or even stress does not cause acne cysts.

If the duct is very tightly plugged, the inflammation may spread to the deeper layers of the skin, forming a ‘blind’ pimple. In some cases cysts form deep in the skin and raise purplish lumps that can take months or years to heal. Cystic acne is the most severe form, and almost always results in some pitting and scarring.

Why do some people get more sever symptoms than others?

Some people’s sebaceous glands are extra sensitive to male hormones. This sensitivity seems to be inherited, explaining why acne tends to run in families. Acne cysts in teenagers is rarely caused by an excess of male hormones, the skin is just over-reacting to the normal amount.

All the forms  have their origin in wrong food habits, such as irregular hours of eating, improper food, excess of starch, sugar and fatty foods. Chronic constipation is another major cause. If the bowels do not move properly, the waste matter is not eliminated as quickly as it should be and the blood stream becomes saturated with toxic matter. The extra efforts of the skin to eliminate this excess waste result in acne and other forms of skin disease. Yet another important cause is the devitalised condition of the skin resulting from unhygenic living habits. Other contributing factors to the disorder are excessive use of tea, coffee, alcohol and tobacco, strenuous studies and sedentary habits which lead to indigestion and general debility.

Several factors are known to be linked to acne cysts:

Hormonal activity

Hyperactive sebaceous glands

Accumulation of dead skin cells Bacteria in the pores

Skin irritation or scratching of any sort

Anabolic steroids

Birth control pills, however many women have reported reduced acne while on the pill

Those exposed to high levels of chlorine compounds, particularly chlorinated dioxins, often develop severe, long-lasting acne cysts, known as Chloracne

I advise lots of acne sufferers every day. I assist them as much as possible. Some are amazingly successful right off the bat. Those that have problems Ive observed share some commonalities.

Here are just a few of my observations of the errors acne patients make and how to side-step them.

#1 Mistake: They see their skin as the cause of the trouble and try to fix their skin…

Acne, whether its teen, adult, body, or cystic acne has nothing to do with your skin. Now before you think Ive lost my mind hear me out…

The health of your skin is only an external view of your internal health.

To solve your acne problem you must forever give up the notion that you will be able to put something on your skin that will cure your acne…

How do you fix the internal dilemma ? We will get to that so stay with me.

#2 Mistake: They dont understand WITH EXACTNESS whats really the cause of their acne…

Some will tell you brownies is the cause of acne. Others blame it on too much sex, or birth control pills, or lack of birth control pills.

While others exclaim its the wrong diet, or bad sanitation. While others say diet doesnt effect acne.

And a swarm of other ideas.

(By the way, they are all incorrect, none are the root acne cause ).

And because they never figure out whats really causing their acne they squander their precious time and money on worthless treatments that never addresses the root cause of thier acne.

The most important initial step to becoming acne-free is to learn in detail whats causing it. (Please see my report on Cause of Acne.

#3 Mistake: If they ever do find out whats the cause of they dont have a strategy or method that get results…

…Or they are absent an important ingredient that is stopping them from solving the problem. Often having part of the answer is worse then having the full solution

So they give up for awhile, only to jump on the next acne fad or quick-fix acne cream. But they never fix what’s causing acne.

They end up anguishing years and years when they dont have to. And they suffer yet more years when they dont have to.

Acne is an inflammatory disease involving the sebaceous glands of the skin; characterized by papules or pustules or comedones. Acne is the term for plugged pores (blackheads and whiteheads), pimples, and even deeper lumps (cysts or nodules) that occur on the face, neck, chest, back, shoulders and even the upper arms. Acne can simply be defined as a group of skin rashes which appear basically at the teenage. But it can occur at any age and can happen to anybody.

When people think of acne, usually the figure of a person comes up with an occurrence of red, inflamed pores on his or her face. Though this is the most common form, but is not the only type of acne which people experience. There are various types of acne which people may experience and there are numerous causes reported for acne.

Types of acne:

• Acne Vulgaris – most commonly experienced around puberty, typically of the face and shoulders/chest

• Acne rosacea – a red rash predominantly on the face

• Acne keloidalis nuchae (Pseudofolliculitis nuchae) – a rash caused by shaving

• Acne conglobata (Hidradenitis suppurativa) – chronic abscesses or boils of sweat glands and hair follicles; in the underarms, groin and buttocks, and under the breasts in women

• Acne cosmetica – acne caused by cosmetics

• Acne fulminans – an extreme form of acne conglobata

• Acne medicamentosa – acne caused by starting or stopping a medicine

• Baby acne – a rash seen on the cheeks, chin, and forehead of infants

• Chloracne – an acne rash caused by exposure to chlorinated hydrocarbons such as dioxins or PCBs.

These are the several types of acne but the common type which occurs usually is acne Vulgaris. Acne Vulgaris occurs at the time of puberty. It is most common in the teenagers.

Causes of acne:

As stated earlier, acne can be caused due to numerous reasons. But generally there are four major factors responsible for causing acne. They are:

• Overactive oil glands

• Blockage of the skin pores

• Activity of normal skin bacteria

• Inflammation

They act together to cause the characteristic pimples, whiteheads and blackheads associated with acne.

Treatment:

The treatment procedure of acne started many years ago. Since then the treatment procedure gradually developed into better form. Acne treatments are also of considerable antiquity:

• Ancient Rome: bathing in hot, and often sulfurous, mineral water was one of the few available acne treatments. One of the earliest texts to mention skin problems is De Medicina by the Roman writer Celsus.

• 1800s: Nineteenth century dermatologists used sulphur in the treatment of acne. It was believed to dry the skin.

• 1920s: Benzoyl Peroxide is used

• 1930s: Laxatives were used as a cure for what were known as ‘chastity pimples’

• 1950s: When antibiotics became available, it was discovered that they had beneficial effects on acne. They were taken orally to begin with. Much of the benefit was not from killing bacteria but from the anti-inflammatory effects of tetracycline and its relatives. Topical antibiotics became available later.

• 1960s: Tretinoin (original Trade Name Retin A) was found effective for acne. This preceeded the development of oral isotretinoin (sold as Accutane and Roaccutane) since the early 1980s.

• 1980s: Accutane is introduced in America

• 1990s: Laser treatment introduced

• 2000s: Blue/red light therapy

Some old treatments, like laxatives, have fallen into disuse but others, like spas, are recovering their popularity. Acne responds well to treatment, particularly if treated early, at the onset of the condition. Treatment is offered to:

• Prevent possible scarring

• Deal with inflamed and painful areas

• Limit the formation of new blackheads and whiteheads

• Lessen any stress or embarrassment associated with the acne

Mild acne can be treated with over-the-counter medications. More serious acne requires treatment by a dermatologist.

Mild acne is managed well by over-the-counter preparations such as benzoyl peroxide, Resorcinol, Salicylic acid, Sulfur, etc. Nowadays acne is also treated with Natural Acne Treatment. Natural acne treatment doesn’t have any side affects and it also totally affective in treating acne. Now acne no longer remains a big problem for the teenagers and the youngsters.
