1) Acne:

Acne is one of the most common skin disorders in the world. It generally occurs when dead skin cells and oil block the pores of the skin. In its common form, “acne vulgaris” (or pimples), this clogging results in the appearance of red and swollen blemishes in the skin. These inflammations occur mainly on the face, chest, back, shoulders and upper arms. There are other forms of acne that aren’t that mild. These can appear as – blackheads, whiteheads, pustules, papules or cysts.

Blackheads- These are caused by the hardening of oils in the skin pores due to the excess oil produced by sebaceous glands (the skin’s oil producing glands). The tip of the clogged pores, that is exposed to the air, turns black (due to oxidation) resulting in the formation of blackheads.

Whiteheads- Whiteheads are white raised spots that show up around the cheekbone, nose, or where the skin is fine. The formation of whiteheads is very similar to that of blackheads except that these occur where skin is delicate and the clogged grease does not get exposed to air. Therefore, there is no darkening of the tips (due to oxidation).

Pustules, Papules- Pustules are small pus-filled inflammations on the skin surface. These commonly occur on face, shoulder and the back. Papules are deeper inflammatory lesions that are raised and solid. In comparison to pustules, they take longer to heal and are known to result in scarring.

Cysts- Cysts are thicker, yellow pus-like inflammations. Quite often, papular or nodular acne results in the formation of a cyst. These inflammations may occur one at a time, or they maybe more than one over the common acne areas – face, neck, back, chest and shoulders.

There are treatments available for each form of acne. But, since the severity of the condition varies by individual, you are advised to consult a dermatologist to determine the best course of action.

The remaining 4 skin disorders Eczema, Psoriasis, Rosacea and Skin Cancer will be discussed in a separate article.

The amount of sebum oil produced by your skin is determined by your genes and hormones, but generally, sebum oil is a natural way for your skin to hydrate itself.Common rememdies exist that when applied accurately will help reduce your skin’s oil production.Acne Remedies:

Listed below are the various types of acne caused lesions. It is useful to know the difference in the various kinds of lesions as this can be helpful in determining the most appropriate treatment.Papules: A papule is a red and inflamed lesion on the skin’s surface. It contains no pus or whitehead. Papules result from a high break in the hair follicle wall. This allows cellular debris (dead skin) and bacteria to spill into the dermis. This break occurs when a pore becomes filled with debris and oil, when it is squeezed or otherwise irritated. A papule often progresses to a pustule.Pustules: A pustule is a typical pimple. It is red and inflamed and also has a white head. Sometimes the brownish comedonal core can be seen as a cap on the pus head. Pustules follow papules after white blood cells invade. The white cap on a pustule is pus, sebaceous matter (oil) and cellular debris.Nodules: A nodule is a large inflamed lesion that occurs deep within the dermis (skin). They feel like a hard, painful lump under the skin. Where papules occur at the skin’s surface, nodules occur deep within the skin. A nodule forms when the follicle wall ruptures deep within the skin. Contaminated debris from the follicle empties into the dermis and infects the adjoining follicles. A nodule is a severe form of an acne lesion. Never squeeze or pick at a nodule. The infection is deep and the risk of scarring is high. If you are prone to nodular breakouts, see your dermatologist.Cysts: A cyst is a very large, inflamed lesion. They feel like soft, fluid filled lumps under the surface of the skin. The most severe form of a pimple, cysts are very painful. like nodules, cysts begin as a deep break in the follicle wall. A membrane develops around the infection in the dermis. As a cyst works its way to the surface, it damages healthy skin, destroying the follicle. The likelihood of scarring is very high. Anyone who is prone to cystic breakouts needs to visit their dermatologist.

Cystic acne is the most severe form of acne skin problems. This appears mostly in teenagers and quite rarely in adults. The main area is the face. There are home remedies for cystic acne but tend to take more time to heal it or you can take a prescription from your dermatologist for some drugs to clear it.

Cystic acne appears mostly because the oil ducts get clogged and it creates an abscess. The biggest mistake people make is to popping and squeezing the zits. This creates scars which are more difficult to get rid of.

The most commonly used drug for severe acne is Isotretinoin. This help treat the clogged pore inflammation, excess of oil produced and the acne appearance. However, it has some bad side effects for your health, like eczema, dry skin, rashes, dry mouth, so you better check it out before you take it.

For women, a great treatment for cystic acne is taking the contraceptive pill. This will help balance your hormone level in your body and help reduce the production of sebaceous glands in your body. The downside effect is gaining weight during treatment.

There are lots of home remedies for cystic acne out there, and the most common ones are using a mango paste for your face, using lemon juice mixed with water o the inflammation areas, putting over your face a paste made from neem leaves with turmeric for 30 minutes, applying some groundnut oil or lavender oil on the affected areas, etc.

Other good things to followed is to wash your face at least twice daily with a cleanser special made for acne ski condition. This contains 5% benzyl peroxide which helps clear the bacteria.

Keeping a way from foods like chocolate, junk foods, sugar, oily foods will diminish your cystic acne condition rapidly. The diet that we eat influence heavily the quality on which some glands work and our skin appearance.

Cystic acne is one of the embarrassing and self-esteem crushing diseases in the world. But it’s also misunderstood, and can be cured naturally without harmful prescription drugs. Here are some tips on how to cure acne, cystic acne in particular.

Stop taking any harmful drugs and creams right away

Specifically drugs like anti-biotics and Accutane. I used both and still regret it to this day. Your body can become immune to anti-biotics over time and your acne will become resistant to them, and come back with a vengeance.

Accutane has horrible side effects on certain people like hair loss and dry skin that you can have for life, not to mention that acne comes back WAY worse for many people after you stop taking the drug.

Creams only address the symptoms of acne and not the root. They too stop working over time and can cause your skin to become immune, which will cause your cystic acne, pimples, and blackheads to come back full force!

Start eating correctly

Certain foods do cause acne despite what you may hear elsewhere. Numerous studies have proven this over the years. If you are acne prone you need to eat the right foods and avoid known acne-causing foods, like vegetable oils and anything that spikes your insulin levels.

There are foods that can also help you get rid of acne as well, and you should learn which foods are beneficial.

Certain supplements are acne killers

There are a few all natural supplements that I recommend that are proven to stop pimples and especially cystic acne right in its’ tracks. They are inexpensive and can be found at any health food store. Spirulina is an excellent supplement that aids in digestion. Poor digestion is one of the main causes of cystic acne.

The birth of the zit may be constant, but this doesn’t necessarily mean that the pimple will always be the same. Different types of pimples can pop out from the same face. But all pimples start as a comendo, which is a lesion caused by oil and bacteria that plug the pores. Basically, a comendo is waiting to grow into a pimple. The pimple itself has many classifications. Some pimples do not necessarily have pus or redness.1. Blackheads and Whiteheads
Blackheads are considered as acne, and this kind is called an open comendo. The blackness, despite common notions, is not caused by dirt or bacteria but by the collection of melanin. Whiteheads, on the other hand, are created because the lesions are formed underneath the skin and are closed. This causes to create small, white bumps in the face or body. Both whiteheads and blackheads are considered as non-inflammatory acne.2. Papule
The most annoying and irritating type of acne is the inflammatory kind. Under this kind of acne, there are more different types. One is called the Papule, which is the mildest form of inflammatory acne. It is seen as a small pink bump, but this could also be a bridge towards more severe acne that will become inflammatory lesions.3. Pustules
Pustules are a more severe kind of acne, which is visibly inflamed and where pus can also be seen. People can differentiate it because it has a red base and it has a white or yellow center. This may look like it has bacteria in it. This is not the case, however. Pustules just have a chemical reaction between the sebum, which causes irritation.4. Nodules or Cysts
Nodules or cysts are probably the worst. They are big and typically painful, especially to the touch. These cysts are inflamed and are pus-filled lesions that dig deep in the skin. This is formed when the comendo has spread in the surrounding skin.
Since the body senses this as an infection, the immune system sends white blood cells to abate the problem. Part of the solution process needs the production of pus, which is why there is pus in some pimples. The severest of this kind of acne can last up to weeks or even months. And since it is deep within the skin, this also causes the deepest scars.5. Conglobata
Another type of acne is acne conglobata. This is a rare form of acne and it is usually found at the back, chest or buttocks. The rarity suggests that it is especially severe, because besides the formation of the nodules and pustules, the area may also have bacterial infection.
The best first step in treating acne is to have knowledge about it and how to treat it. Relying on commercially available products may do the trick but this does not happen all the time.
It is still best to ask a dermatologist for help especially when confusion ensues. They cannot only identify what kind of acne it is, but also how to treat it the right way. Different types of acne suggest that there are different ways to treat them and relying on preconceived notions to treat the acne isn’t really the best idea.
